Your organization's domain name is it's address on the internet. Our domain name is "grassroots.org." Your organization's domain name should relate to your organization's name, but it need not be the same thing. As a rule, a name should be easy to remember, and not too long.
For example, if your organization's name is Doris B. Rosenthal Memorial Community Center you might chose dbrcommunitycenter.org or rosenthalcommunitycenter.org rather than the full dorisbrosenthalmemorialcommunitycenter.org.
As you can probably imagine, many of common domain names--and even some not-so-common ones--are already in use. Check out our domain registration guide for info on how to find out if a domain is already owned by someone else.
